FCIOB status is widely recognised as a mark of excellence within the construction sector and is regarded as one of the most demanding professional achievements to attain. Fellowship is awarded only to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional experience, leadership, and sustained contribution to the industry over many years.

The assessment process is notably rigorous, requiring candidates to evidence a significant track record of responsibility, technical competence, and professional integrity. It is not a qualification achieved lightly, nor quickly, and it represents the culmination of long-term performance at a senior level within the profession.

As a result, FCIOB status remains relatively rare and is reserved for those operating at the very highest tier of construction management and leadership.
